Has anyone installed any Guardian equipment? Just installed my first furnace this morning.

From what I was told its a york/luxaire knock off (like Ameristar is to Trane/American Standard). Seemed like a decent furnace for the price. It did confuse me a little when I found an extra plastic piece in the packaging I wasnt able to locate the purpose of in the manual. Came to find out they were having an issue with condensation at the combustion air intake and had to make these condensation gathering fittings to provide an appropriate means of draining. Didn't apply in our situation as we had a large open basement to draw combustion air from and were told it was for applications using outside air intake.

Also I'm not a big fan of the small opening height given at the blower compartment sides. We use a lot of 16x20 or 16x25 filter racks and there is not sufficient height for a 16' filter, a 14' would fit perfectly though. They also state in there somewhere that return air should be drawn from bottom or left side, not right side as the blower mounts on the right side. They provide two airflow charts for either bottom or left side return. Something I've never noticed in most other manuals. Just a bottom of the line York product. Surprising that you can't use a 16' filter rack, wow.

1' filters are bad enough without making them even smaller.Guardian makes private air conditioners, warmth pumps and gas furnaces. They are definitely built 'cheaper' than those. However, I would put them as a step above Goodman, Whirlpool, and other bottom line furnaces. We sell YORK equipment and have been very pleased with the Guardian units. Guardian makes private air conditioners, warmth pumps and gas furnaces.
